BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Organizers of Crime Victims United announced the "Stars Honoring Survivors" Reception that was originally postponed until June 17 has been canceled amid coronavirus concerns.
The organization said the event was planned for the Firehouse, an intimate indoor space that cannot provide the social distancing that seems prudent at this time. "We are sad we cannot be together to celebrate the important work of Crime Victims United, however there are ways you can show your continued financial support," organizers said.
Officials said they are still planning their 4th Annual All-American Rib Cookoff fundraiser in Auburn this September. In October Crime Victims United will promote its first Annual Giving Drive celebrating 30 years of service. "In our inaugural year, we are celebrating thirty years of Crime Victims United service to the community."
