DA's office charges woman in connection to crash that killed 6-year-old boy

SHAFTER, Calif. — A woman is facing felony charges of vehicular manslaughter and willful cruelty to a child following a crash that killed a 6-year-old boy in Shafter back in February.

According to the Kern County District Attorney's Office, 31-year-old Breanna Jimenez is facing one count of felony manslaughter and three counts of felony cruelty to a child in connection to a crash that killed 6-year-old Jaden Jimenez.

The crash happened on February 21, just before 3:40 p.m. on West Tulare Avenue, just east of Poplar Avenue in Shafter. According to officials, Jaden was a passenger of the vehicle when it left the roadway and crashed.

Jaden was taken to Kern Medical where he later died from his injuries.

Breanna Jimenez is currently being held on a $50,000 bail. She is due back at the Shafter Court on June 9 for a bail review and pre-preliminary hearing.
