MCFARLAND, Calif. — A man wanted for attempted murder was arrested in McFarland Saturday night following a police chase that ventured into Delano and back to McFarland.

According to the McFarland Police Department, around 10 p.m. Saturday, officers located a vehicle matching the description of one that had been involved in a recent attempted homicide within the city. Officers attempted to perform a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle on Fifth Street at Robertson Avenue. The vehicle, a black Lincoln Navigator SUV, failed to yield and led officers on a pursuit through the City of McFarland, onto Northbound Highway 99, and into the City of Delano.

Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the pursuit as the pursuit continued back to the City of McFarland.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old David Aviles, ran from the still-moving vehicle in the 400 block of Harlow Avenue. As the suspect exited the vehicle, he brandished a semi-automatic pistol from his waistband.

The subject was pursued by officers and deputies on foot into an alleyway where he was apprehended in the alleyway and the pistol was recovered after having been thrown away.

Bello was arrested and charged with felony evading, and multiple weapons and gang charges. He was booked into the Kern County Jail without further incident.
