(UPDATE 7 PM): At 6:15 p.m., the male subject surrendered and was taken into custody.

No one was injured.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office and hostage negotiators were called out to Oildale Tuesday afternoon after a person barricaded and armed themselves and others inside a home.

KCSO officials said deputies received the call around 12:50 p.m. for a domestic violence situation in the 200 block of Woodlands Meadow Ct. When they arrived they discovered a subject had armed themselves inside the home with at least one other person.

Hostage negotiators were called to the scene and made contact. KCSO said that one person has been removed from the home.

The armed subject is still inside the home and in contact with the hostage negotiator.

KCSO said the surrounding neighborhood will remain blocked off for the time being.

This is a developing story.
