BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help identifying two men seen in a surveillance video attempting to break into an elderly couple's home.

KCSO said on Saturday at 2:35 p.m., two men approached a residence in the 2000 block of Terrace Way and rang the doorbell. The elderly couple was home at the time with both attached to oxygen machines.

After there was no answer at the door, KCSO said the two men approached the side door to the residence and kicked it several times, breaking the door. The elderly female homeowner watching this from the bedroom called 911.

One of the suspects partially enters the bedroom through the broken door. At this point, the suspect hears or sees the elderly woman, and flees the scene. A neighbor reported seeing three black males leaving the residence in a dark-colored SUV.

Anyone with information is urged to contact KCSO at (661) 861-3110 or the Secret Witness Hotline at (661) 322-4040.
