Kern County Coroner's Office rules woman killed in Greyhound bus shooting a homicide

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Coroner's Office ruled Lurbis Elena Vence's death a homicide after she was shot multiple times on a Greyhound bus Monday morning.

Vence, 51, was traveling on the bus through the Grapevine near Lebec when a man allegedly opened fire just before 1:30 a.m. The suspect, Anthony Williams, struck Vence as well as five other passengers before he was subdued.

Williams, 41, is now facing one count of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder. He is due back in court Feb. 13 at 3 p.m.
