BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The man who allegedly tried to carjack a vehicle with children inside appeared in court Wednesday pleading not guilty to all charges.
According to Bakersfield Police, last Sunday at around 2 a.m. officers saw a man attempting to force a woman from a vehicle. When officers tried to talk to the man who was later identified as 24-year-old Miguel Valdovinos he took off running. He was taken into custody a short time later.
The investigation revealed Valdovinos attempted to carjack a person whose children were inside of the vehicle. Valdovinos made mention of having a firearm, but police say none was seen or located.
Valdovinos was arrested for carjacking, attempted kidnapping, criminal threats, robbery, and resisting arrest.
Bail was set at $125,000. His next court hearing is October 13th.
