Man arrested after crashing car into Motel 6 and discarding gun

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — One man has been arrested Monday night after crashing into a motel in Bakersfield, where he fled from police, and discarded a gun, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

The Motel 6 was located on 1350 Easton Drive in Southwest Bakersfield.

BPD said just before 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Motel 6 on 1350 East Drive for a vehicle into a building. When they arrived, the driver of the vehicle took off on foot and police pursued him. Police said as he fled the man discarded a firearm.

According to BPD, the man was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for driving under the influence and weapons violations.

No other injuries were reported from those inside the motel. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
