Man arrested following shooting in East Bakersfield Wednesday morning

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man is in custody following a shooting in East Bakersfield early Wednesday morning, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

KCSO deputies responded to the area of Sterling Road, near E. Brundage Lane, for a victim of a shooting. When they arrived they found the victim with non-life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, deputies determined the identity of the suspect, Isaac Mize, 29. Deputies tracked Mize down to a home in the 2500 block of Center Street where he barricaded himself inside. KCSO said at around 9 a.m. Mize crawled through a window and onto the roof of the apartment. At that point, Mize complied with deputies and was taken into custody without incident.

Mize will be booked at the Central Receiving Facility for assault with a deadly weapon.
