BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department has arrested William Blowheart Lee as the suspect in the killing of Jerry Tibbs Jr. in East Bakersfield Wedensday.
According to BPD, on Wednesday night officers were alerted to a ShotSpotter activation around 9:41 p.m. in the area of Kentucky Street and Baker Street. When officers arrived, they found Tibbs Jr. suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.
On Friday, at about 3:30 p.m. investigators arrested Lee, 33, on the corner of Union Avenue and 18th Street. At the time of his arrest, Lee was in possession of a stolen 9mm handgun, which is believed to be the murder weapon.
Lee was arrested on charges of murder, possession of stolen property and several firearms related charges. He was transported and booked into the Kern County jail.
