Victim of shooting in South Bakersfield identified, additional suspect revealed

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Bakersfield Police Department has identified Anthony Daniel, 19 as an additional suspect in this investigation.

On Tuesday around 3:30 p.m., detectives apprehended Daniel in the 2700 block Morin Court.

Daniel was later transported and booked into the Kern County Jail in connection with this murder investigation.

The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of the shooting as 18-year-old Emmanuel Alfaro Arechiga.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, at around 9:30 a.m. police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Echo Avenue where they found Arechiga in a car suffering from a gunshot wound. An 18-year-old woman was also found in the car.

The investigation revealed that the incident began in the 2800 block of Morin Court, where Arechiga was originally wounded. He then drove to Echo Avenue where the woman called for police and medical help.

Arechiga was later pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday afternoon, Bakersfield Police Department detectives obtained a warrant for the suspect who is a white male juvenile, 17-years-old.

Officers of the Bakersfield Police Department apprehended the suspect, without incident, while in the 5700 block of Lighthouse Lane, in the City of Palmdale.

The juvenile suspect was subsequently booked into Kern County Juvenile Hall.
