BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield Police officers arrested a 17-year-old who discarded a loaded unregistered firearm while fleeing from police.

According to BPD, officers responded to a report of numerous people loitering in the 800 block of East California Avenue Thursday at about 11:27 p.m.

Upon contact with the group, the teen fled from officers. During the juvenile’s flight, he discarded a loaded unregistered firearm.

He was taken into custody with no incident and was booked into Kern County Juvenile Hall for gang participation and related firearms charges.
