Traffic accident results in shooting in South Bakersfield; victim sustained minor injury

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted after a traffic accident early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the 3300 block of Panama Lane in Southwest Bakersfield just before 3:30 a.m., where they found a man with a single, minor gunshot injury.

According to BPD, the victim was leaving a house party on Charterten Avenue, in South Bakersfield, where another shooting had taken place earlier that evening. No victims were reported in that shooting.

After the victim left the party, he drove to the area of South H Street and Hosking Avenue where he was involved in a traffic accident. When the victim exited his vehicle, he was shot by the occupants of the other involved vehicle.

The victim fled to the 3300 block of Panama Lane where he made contact with the BPD officers.

There is no suspect information at the time.
