BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A total of 35 people were arrested for driving under the influence over the Fourth of July weekend, according to officials with the California Highway Patrol and the Bakersfield Police Department.
CHP arrested 26 people on suspicion of DUI during the Independence Day Maximum Enforcement Period, which began Friday at 6 p.m. and ran through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
CHP also reported one deadly crash where the decedent was not wearing a seatbelt.
According to BPD, nine people were arrested for DUI between Friday at 6 p.m. to Sunday at 6 p.m.
