A 7-year-old who evacuated home on Friday with his family due to the Cedar Fire left something behind for his firefighting friends.

Crews scouting the neighborhood found Alastair’s “early response system” – and now carry it around on their fire truck.

The response system is a Jiffy pop popcorn. Alastair explains in a YouTube video how the popcorn can be used as a fire alarm (jokingly, of course).

Alastair and his family are currently evacuated and in Bakersfield.
