The Arvin City Council did not adopt an ordinance that would have required businesses to post signs asking their customers to wear masks. The council however did say they will talk about the ordinance at a future meeting after certain language is modified.

The council wanted to adopt the ordinance, but wanted to allow businesses some time to see how customers and owners reacted to the signs. The council looked to modify the language that would have made it so there was no citations of any businesses that did not put the signs up.

However, they could not adopt and modify the ordinance in the same night without public input of the modifications.

The ordinance would have required businesses to put up mandatory signs that ask customers to wear face coverings. The goal of the ordinance was to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.

The council is planning on having a special meeting to discuss the changes to the ordinance sometime soon.
