Bakersfield Police announce arrests in Remington Avenue shooting, three suspects still at large

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department announced that it has arrested three additional suspects linked to the Remington Avenue shooting from August.

On Monday, the department said the three additional suspects which includes Jervern Weldon, Antwon Ginn and Dontrell Williams were arrested for their warrants related to the shooting.

Weldon was arrested on August 31 for illegal firearms possession and gang participation, Ginn was arrested on September 8 for destruction of evidence and gang participation and Williams was arrested on October 5 for illegal firearms possession and gang participation.

On August 17, just after 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a call in the area of 7400 Remington Avenue for shots fired. A large party was taking place, according to BPD, as they arrived, and further investigation led them to locate over 60 fired bullet casings from various calibers on Remington, near Quailwood Elementary school.

On Monday, Bakersfield Police also recalled the arrest warrant for Charles Blakely who they determined was not involved in the shooting.

The department said it is still looking for Clarence Wandick, Vannis Anthony and Maurice Spellman who all still have active arrest warrants.
