BC investigating faculty member for failing to report sexual assault

BC Public Safety Director, Christopher Counts, says an instructor is now being questioned for possibly not reporting what they had been told. A student first tried to tell the instructor of a suspicious man near the women's restroom, and when the instructor did nothing the student got help from another professor.

Officials within Bakersfield College are furthering their investigation into how the sexual assault on campus last week was reported.

The female student who witnessed the suspicious male outside the restroom reported it to a staff member within the building who didn't act, according to the public safety department.

An internal investigation is going on to get to the bottom of this.

They said a second faculty member was informed by the female student who then reported the activity to officials.

Both faculty members involved were in the Fine Arts building.
