Blue Sushi in Wasco catches fire early Monday morning, over $100,000 in damages

Shortly after 6:00 a.m. on September 12, the Kern County Fire Department received multiple reports of a restaurant on fire at Blue Sushi in Wasco.

First arriving crews encountered an approximately 1,000 square foot business with smoke and flames visible.

Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire keeping the fire contained to the business of origin, while saving adjoining businesses. An interior search was performed and confirmed that the building was empty at the time of the fire.

The fire was controlled in approximately 20 minutes.

Crews remained on scene to mop up, check for extension and investigate the cause. Loss as a result of the fire was estimated to be approximately $150,000 with approximately $250,000 saved.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
