BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A 10-year-old girl was caught on security video scaring off a strange man as he approached her home.

The family said it happened around 4 p.m. Thursday in the area of Norris Road and Quail Creek.

Lola Letourneau was helping out her mom by starting the car and turning the air conditioning on in the family's SUV. As she sat in the car, she saw a man approach the family's home.

"I said, if you get in that situation just yell, i mean, especially with the pandemic going on, there's a lot of people home, just scream and someone is going to come outside," Lola's stepdad Dylan Pendley said. "Fortunately, my neighbor he came out."

The man immediately runs off as Lola can be seen running towards the home.

"I just knew I needed to tell him to leave," Lola said. "So I just thought of a bunch of words to like tell him to go away."

The Kern County Sheriff's Office said they believe they've identified the suspect in the video. KCSO said the suspect is wanted for burglary and theft during a state of emergency.
