Coroners release information on South High coach who died in Northwest Bakersfield crash

The cause of death in Sunday morning’s fatal accident in Northwest Bakersfield has been released.

South High boys’ varsity basketball coach Brian Carter suffered from blunt injuries and died on scene. After an examination, the manner of death was labeled an accident.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Calloway Drive and Noriega Road. The vehicle hit a tree and Carter was ejected from the vehicle.
