China Peak Mountain Resort announced it plans to open for Thanksgiving weekend after escaping possible damage from recent wildfires.
According to the resort, many homes were lost in the greater mountain community of Shaver and Huntington Lakes. The resort said as soon as it is allowed on site, resort officials will assess the damage, begin the cleanup process and resume the pre-season work to get ready for the 2020-21 ski season.
"We have a lot to do, and there are complications well beyond the visible fire damage, including all major utilities, but we are confident we can over the next 10-12 weeks get a great deal done to make our projected opening on Thanksgiving weekend."
