BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — At least one person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Lerdo Highway in Buttonwillow Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol website.

CHP reported the crash near Main Drain Road, west of Interstate 5, just after 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to CHP, two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash and one of the drivers was pinned in to their vehicle. CHP arrived at the scene and reported that at least one person died from their injuries.

Lanes were closed on Lerdo Hwy. following the crash due to debris in the roadway but CHP is reporting the highway is now open in both directions.
