DELANO, Calif. — A man killed in a crash off Highway 43 and Sherwood Avenue near McFarland Friday was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP reported on Friday around 3:32 a.m., a 34-year-old Delano man was driving a 2011 BMW westbound on Sherwood Avenue approaching, a posted stop sign on Hwy. 43. At the same time, a 2001 Dodge Ram, was traveling northbound on Hwy. 43 approaching Sherwood Avenue.
For unknown reasons, the driver of the BMW entered the intersection directly into the path of the Dodge Ram, causing the crash.
CHP reported the driver of the BMW died at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge Ram did not report any injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
