The Bakersfield community and Delano residents are mourning the loss of a couple killed in an apparent double murder.
29 year-old Derek Connell is behind bars, facing two counts of homicide after his biological mother and stepfather were found dead in their home on Lily Pad Ct.
Kim and Chris Higginbotham were found early Saturday morning.
Neighbors have left flowers at the Higginbotham's front door in memoriam. Many neighbors are still in shock after the murders, saying crimes like these are unheard of in their community.
