BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A potential housing project in Southwest Bakersfield is effectively dead after developers did not file an appeal in time.
The proposed project would have seen apartments built on the corner of Stockdale Highway and Coffee Road.
Over the past few months, some residents in Southwest Bakersfield spoke out against the housing project saying the apartments would potentially impact crime, traffic, and even privacy.
City planners recommended the plans not go forward and The Board of Zoning denied the project.
Developers could have appealed the decision but did not file the paperwork in time. The deadline to file the appeal was last Friday.
