On hot days like today playgrounds can actually be dangerous for kids.
Health officials say they've gotten dozens of reports of kids with thermal burns from playground equipment.
This is already prompting parents around Kern County to be extra careful.
The slides get really hot and so do the swings, the swing sets get hotter than the rest of the playground equipment especially the seats or the chains,” said Colina Leathers, Bakersfield resident.
Kern County Parks and Recreation say parents should be aware of extreme heat checking things out before letting kids play on the playground.
