Coroner: Death of 18-year-old ruled a homicide

ARVIN, Calif. — The death of an 18-year-old, who was killed during a shooting in Arvin, has been ruled a homicide, according to the Kern County Coroner.

According to the Arvin Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Haven Drive near Santa Rosa Street around midnight on February 22 for shots fired. When officers arrived, they found two Hispanic men suffering from gunshot wounds.

18-year-old Javier Ramirez Cruz was taken to Kern Medical, where he died from his injuries.

According to the Kern County Coroner, Cruz died of multiple gunshot wounds. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Arvin PD says 22-year-old Antonio Lopez of Arvin was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner has determined that Lopez died from a gunshot wound to the head. His death has also been ruled a homicide.
