Coroner: Man identified in fatal stabbing at a Central Bakersfield gas station

The Kern County coroner has identified the man fatally stabbed at a gas station in Central Bakersfield last week.

Officials say 43-year-old Virdy Lee Jones died from a stab wound after fight he had with 66-year-old James Jordan -- who is now a suspect in the homicide investigation.

According to BPD, Jones was found dead with apparent stab wounds around 2 p.m. on May 14 at a gas station.

The suspect, James Jordan, turned himself in to Bakersfield Police and was arrested for homicide.
