BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Fair is gearing up for opening day. The fair grounds are buzzing with crews and volunteers hard at work with the fair gates opening in less than 48 hours.

The days and weeks leading up to the fair are anything but relaxing for the dozens of crew members and volunteers.

Tashia short a volunteer at the Hobbies section said, “We started setting up about two weeks ago.”

Most of the crews and volunteers said they are happy this cooler weather is sweeping through Bakersfield this week, making their jobs just a little easier this season.
