The death of a woman who was found inside a burning apartment in Aug. was ruled an accident by the Kern County Sheriff's Office investigators.

60-year-old Billie Ruth Owens was found dead inside of her home on Aug. 24.

The cause of her death was initially being investigated as suspicious. Investigators determined that Owens died due to smoke inhalation and thermal burns.

They ruled the manner of her death as accidental.
