BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Louise Abraham's brother, Carlos Abraham, was defending her when they were both fatally shot by the father of her children at Santa Fe Apartments' parking lot, according to documents.

An offense report from Bakersfield Police also stated that one of the children told police they heard 39-year-old Moris Gilmente arguing with 34-year-old Louise about being unfaithful. The child allegedly witnessed Gilmente attempt to shoot Louise with a gun but did not see him actually fire the weapon.

Following an altercation between the two, Abraham attempted to protect Louise, but was fatally shot by Gilmente, documents showed.

Gilmente told investigators that he had been drinking since 9 a.m. on the day of the incident and does not remember shooting Lousie and Abraham. The report from Bakersfield Police said that the kids' babysitter told authorities that the family was having a party around 12 a.m.

Gilmente has been charged with double murder and felony evading. He's scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
