Driver arrested for DUI after crash causes large power outage

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A driver was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) after a crash caused a large power outage in Southwest Bakersfield.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. on December 31 in the 2400 block of Stine Road in Southwest Bakersfield. According to BPD, when officers arrived, they discovered that a Honda sedan was traveling southbound on Stine Road at the intersection of Wilson Road when the car left the roadway and struck a tree and PG&E power pole. The crash caused an immediate power outage in the area.

The driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested for DUI.
