BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man is in the hospital with major injuries after crashing into a traffic light on the corner of Parkview Drive and White Lane in Southwest Bakersfield.
According to crews at the scene, around 12:41 p.m. the driver was heading Southbound on Parkview Dr. when, for unknown reasons, he crashed in the pole on the southwest corner of Parkview and White Lane. The crash pinned the driver in the vehicle but Bakersfield Fire crews were able to get him out.
The driver was taken to Kern Medical where he is said to be in critical condition, according to BFD.
Eastbound White Ln. was reduced to two lanes following the crash but traffic has since been restored, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
