DELANO, Calif. — On Monday evening a public service was held at Saint Mary's Church in Delano to honor 35-year-old Ramon Figueroa.

Figueroa was a Porterville Fire Captain who was killed last week in a library fire along with 25-year-old firefighter Patrick Jones. The fire was started by two teenagers who both face arson related charges according to the DA's office.

Figueroa's casket was draped with the American flag, and dozens of family members, friends and colleagues gathered to pay their respects. Many of the people who attended told 23ABC they were too emotional to talk on camera.

On Tuesday Figueroa's funeral mass will be held at Saint Mary's at 10 a.m.. After mass Figueroa is expected to be laid to rest at the North Kern Cemetery.
