BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Edible Schoolyard Kern County has opened enrollment for its Spring Camp program.

Spring Camp combines Edible Schoolyard’s unique curriculum with a hands-on learning environment to provide an unmatched educational experience. The program consists of eight weekly sessions from March 15 through May 14 and is open to students in first through sixth grade.

Campers attend a weekly two-hour class for eight weeks. Outdoors, students learn the basics of gardening and the seed-to-table cycle in our Garden Classroom. Campers also spend time indoors in our Kitchen Classroom where they learn to cook recipes that use fresh produce from the garden.

Spring Camp costs between $275 and $325 per camper, depending on the session and blackout dates. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available.

Adults can register their children online and find more information here.
