BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The closure of Eye Street between 20th and 21st Streets will continue through Friday, May 15, according to city officials.

The closure is needed as a contractor for AT&T is removing heavy equipment from a building in the area. The work was expected to be completed by May 14, but the contractor indicated to the City of Bakersfield that work will continue through the end of the day Friday.

Detours and alternate access points will be provided during the closure period. Traffic delays are expected as a result. Drivers are advised to use caution and to use alternate routes or allow extra travel time through this area.
