BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — There was a car crash Friday night off of Norris Road and Howard Avenue.

The California Highway Patrol confirms one person is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Oildale.

The incident began as a non-injury crash between two vehicles, a 2012 Chrysler 200 and 1999 Toyota Sienna. Officer Robert Rodriguez with CHP said both parties got out to exchange information when a third vehicle, 2005 Acura RSX, drove through the crash scene striking and killing the victim.

According to CHP, the Chrysler was traveling west on Norris Road near California Street and turned left into the path of the Toyota resulting in minor injuries. Several minutes later after the people in the crash exited their vehicles, the Acura attempted to avoid crashing into the vehicles and hit a woman, said CHP.

Samantha Sharp, 37, of Bakersfield, was declared dead at the scene.

Norris Road was closed in the area while the crash was under investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to CHP.

The crash is still under investigation.
