Firefighters on the frontlines of the Stagecoach Fire are sending a message of thank you to the Kern Valley community, especially Kern Valley High School.

In a video message, Santa Monica Fire Deputy Chief and Stagecoach Incident Commander Tom Clemo shared his gratitude for the high school and their assistance during the fire.

As the fire scorched the area, the school provided its facilities to fire crews and the community. Clemo said with over 900 firefighters from several counties working to put out the flames, every bit of support is appreciated.

The Stagecoach fire is nearing full containment. Cal Fire reporting Friday morning the fire remains at 7,760 acres with 99% containment.
