Flood Advisory in effect for I-5 corridor

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The National Weather Service in Hanford CA has issued a "Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory" for Western Kern County. This alert is in effect until 1230 p.m.

At 9:08 a.m., law enforcement reported heavy rain causing urban and small stream flooding near Mettler. Some locations that will experience flooding include Bakersfield, Delano, Wasco, Shafter, McFarland, Taft, Maricopa, Lamont, Rosedale, Valley Acres, Mettler, Derby Acres, Ford City, Taft Heights, Dustin Acres, McKittrick, Weedpatch, South Taft, Tupman and Belridge.

When encountering flooded roads, remember the phrase "Turn around, don't drown". Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
