Former girls' basketball coach pleads not guilty to sex crimes

The man accused of having a sexual relationship with a minor in 2011 while coaching at Ridgeview High School was in court today. Keith Lamont Cash Jr. plead not guilty to multiple counts of sexual assault on a minor.

Investigators say that the victim who is now an adult went to Bakersfield Police in July and said that their relationship began when she was 13 years old, according to court documents and lasted for about a year.

Investigators say that Cash Jr. worked as a girls basketball coach from 2011 to 2017 at Ridgeview and Stockdale High School.

Documents were obtained by 23ABC at the end of July which revealed more details about the alleged relationship Cash had with the then 13-year-old gir.

The former high school girls basketball coach was arrested July 9 for multiple counts of sexual assault of a minor, and was formally charged on Thursday, July 26. He was charged with oral copulation with a person under 16 years and contact with a minor with the intent to commit sexual offense according to BPD.

Cash is due back in court on September 11.
