GET announces services to be suspended Friday night due to "anticipated unrest"

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Golden Empire Transit once again announced that services will be suspended starting at 5 p.m. due to the possibility of "anticipated unrest" in the community.

This is the second evening in a row that services will be suspended. Officials with GET said that the suspension Thursday and Friday nights due to information received from BPD regarding possible protests in the downtown area and Valley Plaza.

"We take this information serious and implement all necessary precautions to protect our customers, employees and the community," officials said.

GET said it will close the Downtown and Southwest Transit Center and all GET services will stop from 5 p.m.

This includes fixed route buses, RYDE, and GET-A-Lift.

"We have made the decision to temporarily cease service for the safety of our employees and customers," officials said.
