BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Golden Empire Transit announced that services will be suspended Thursday starting at 5 p.m. due to the possibility of "anticipated unrest" in the community.

GET said it will close the Downtown and Southwest Transit Center and all GET services will stop from 5 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday, tentatively.

This includes fixed route buses, RYDE, and GET-A-Lift.

"We have made the decision to temporarily cease service for the safety of our employees and customers," officials said.

Golden Empire Transit did not provide further specific reasoning for the suspension aside from "anticipated unrest".
