BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — As the City and county prepare for possible protests Friday evening, Golden Empire Transit announced it will close the Downtown Transit Center and all GET services will stop at 5 p.m.

This includes fixed route buses, RYDE, and GET-A-Lift.

Service will tentatively resume Saturday at 7 a.m.

"We have made the decision to temporarily cease service for the safety of our employees and customers," GET officials said in a statement.
