BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In a day, cancer-fighter and Bakersfield-native, David Marcus successfully raised $5,000 dollars to help get him a star at The Fox Theater, according to a GoFundMe page his family set up.

David's sister, Arlene told 23ABC that she started the GoFundMe page Wednesday morning and they were able to raise $920 in just six hours.

The page also states that The Fox Theatre Board of Directors is in full support of the initiative to get David a star.

Last week, David who is currently battling cancer for the seventh time, received a special message and well wishes from the POTUS.
