A house fire in Golden Hills caused thousands of dollars in damage on Saturday.
The Kern County Fire Department received a call for the fire at around 2:50 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. When they arrived, firefighters found smoke coming from the exterior roof area of the front patio. One person was home at the time of the fire, but were evacuated before the department arrived.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading into the attic space. The fire was declared out within 30 minutes of the department arriving.
The damage was estimated to be around $6,000, with about $200,000 saved.
