KCFD responds to brush fire burning near Lake Isabella

MOUNTAIN MESA, Calif. (KERO) — Kern County Fire crews have made progress against a brush fire burning near Lake Isabella, north of Highway 178. According to officials the Mesa Fire has burned 100 acres and is 70% contained.

KCFD responded to the fire around 12:43 p.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters from both the ground and air responded and stopped the forward rate of spread. Officials report the fire is wind-driven burning with high winds blowing out of the SW at 16-20 MPH.

A nearby Mobile Home Park and a couple of businesses were threatened. The Mobile home park was evacuated.

Kern County Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol immediately closed Highway 178.
