(UPDATE Feb. 10): A Critical Incident Review Board deemed a shooting involving a Kern County Sheriff Deputy was deemed within departmental policy.
The incident occurred on Jan. 19 in the 35000 block of Merle Haggard Drive. KCSO released a video review of the shooting.
KCSO said the shooting took place during an undercover narcotics operation. During the operation, one of the suspects attempted to kidnap a federal agent, KCSO said.
KCSO said no one was injured during the incident.
The deputy involved in the operation was not wearing a body-worn camera due to the nature of the operation, but KCSO was able to gather video from a nearby Panda Express.
The name of the deputy is not being released at this time due to the nature of the assignment.
KCSO arrested Keisean Rockmore, 27, and Adrian Rodriguez Cardenas, 20, following the incident. The third suspect is a minor and their name has been redacted. All three are facing multiple charges including robbery, attempted kidnapping, and the minor is facing an attempted murder charge.
(UPDATE 12:50 PM): The Kern County Sheriff's Office arrested three people Tuesday during an undercover narcotics operation after they attempted to kidnap a federal agent, according to KCSO.
According to KCSO, the operation was taking place around 10:30 a.m. on Merle Haggard Drive. During the operation, KCSO said three people attempted to kidnap a federal agent and one of them displayed a firearm. KCSO said that was when a deputy fired their weapon.
KCSO said no one was injured.
The three people involved fled and were later taken into custody in the area of Village Lane and Marsha Street.
KCSO said a gun was recovered during the arrest.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting involving a deputy in Oildale.
