BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office announced it has made an arrest in the 2013 murder investigation of Oscar Garcia.

According to KCSO, on Aug. 11, 2013, the Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire in the area of Bear Mountain Blvd. and General Beale Rd. While putting out the fire, firefighters located the burned body of Garcia.

Kern County Sheriff’s Office detectives were called out and started a homicide investigation. It was determined Garcia's death was a murder.

During the initial investigation, Detectives spoke to Garcia’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Guillen, 42, who advised she had not seen Garcia in two days. There were few leads and the investigation went cold.

KCSO said earlier this year, detectives received information that implicated Guillen in the murder. On Tuesday Homicide detectives served a search warrant at her residence.

Guillen was detained and interviewed before being arrested for murder and booked into the Kern County Jail.

She is due is court next Thursday at 3 p.m.
