KCSO releases video of manhunt that resulted in deputies fatally shooting armed man

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Kern County Sheriff's Officer released a video message that included clips of body-worn camera footage from an Oct. 28 manhunt in East Bakersfield that left a man dead.

According to KCSO, 30-year-old Justin Esqueda was shot by KCSO deputies following an hours-long manhunt in the area of Dartmouth Street.

Deputies Christopher Gonzalez, Miguel Orozco and Detective Vidal Contreras were placed on administrative leave following the shooting. An incident review board found the shooting to be within departmental policy and all three have been returned to duty.
